PHOTO OF THE MONTH ARCHIVES
2019

Friends have asked me why I haven't kept an archive of my Photographs of the Month since I commenced putting them up some 10 years ago. Well, I have considered doing this for some time and in 2016 and the 10th anniversary of the first photo feature I decided to include each month's photograph. Sadly I kept no records of previous top pics prior to 2016, most unlike me, but enjoy this section of the website, you never know if you've been featured, or one of your photographs is inluded.

All photographs taken by P. Ellis unless noted

January/February: Buddong Falls, located along the Hume And Hovell Walking Track and situated in Kosciuzsko National Park. Even during the dryest summer these falls still provide spectacular scenery. This shot was taken during the Shoalhaven Bushwalkers recent Kosciuzsko camp.  Photo: Brett Davis

March: Remarkable Cave, found just south of Port Arthur in Tasmania.  Photo: Joe Nethery

April: Craig Rayner inspects Horseman Rock, which can be found just off part of the Jedbinbilla Trail in Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve near Canberra. Not easily found and took us several attempts to find this, but we were suitably impressed.

May: Karen Davis and friend negotiating the new staircase for the ascent onto the summit of Pidgeonhouse Mountain in the Budawangs. It looks a lot different to when I was last there in 1999. Photo: Brett Davis

June: Leslie Weddercliff descending from Bibbenluke Ridge into the Burrumbeet Brook valley during a Shoalhaven Bushwalkers Budawangs three day hike, Wirritin Ridge in the background. Photo: Kynie Evison

July: The famous 'Balancing Rock' high on the ridge on the Granite Tors walk above the Orroral Valley near Canberra. The gap under the rock leads to a cliff top ledge with sensational views of the valley and the remains of the Space Tracking Station.

August: Shoalhaven Bushwalker John Kubale getting into the "TEETH" of a bushwalk on Bollerang Creek near Shoalhaven's Turpentine Road. It's amazing how some rock formations can have eerie resemblances. This could easily be called 'Gorilla or Kong Rock'. Photo: K. Evison

September: Gerald Dodgson poses beside his favourite tree, located along his secret track between Mt Majura and Mt Ainslie in Canberra

October: Shoalhaven Bushwalkers climbing Jinkbilly Hill near Yalwal during a recent Wednesday Walkers Off-Track Walk. Photo: Brett Davis

November: Kynie Evison making her way through the snow to Whitelaw Hut Ruins on the Australian Alps Walking Track in Victoria

December: Paul takes in a smoky view of the Tidbinbilla Valley near the Xanthorrhoea Loop and Gibraltar Peak Walking Tracks in Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve. The smoke would get a lot worse in the coming month as bushfires raged across New South Wales. Photo: C Rayner
